The Wind & the Veldt (Paperback Audio)
Published in Audio Cassette by Dh Audio (December, 1994)
Average review score:

Chilling and riveting stories that you'll love!On this cassette you'll hear two great Bradbury short stories. First off is "The Wind", in which a man believes the wind is trying to kill him. First he just seems paranoid to you, then gradually you begin to think it's possible! The ending is one of the most chilling ones you'll ever hear! I definitely suggest listening to this one in your car on a stormy, windy night to give yourself an extra scare every time the wind hits your windows. In "The Veldt", we hear about what happens when you let your children entertain themselves too long with a virtual reality nursery. The ending to this one is a little more predictable, but it's still one that will keep you listening until the very end! All in all, this whole collection of Durkin Hayes Audio Books of Ray Bradbury stories is a winning set, so get all of them you can. There isn't a single bad one in the batch!

Average review score:

Good book! This book deals with how and why we should discipline according to God's Word. It also cautions us to check our reasons and attitude when we are disciplining. Focus is given on using God's word and showing His Authority to our children. An index of common discipline problems along with appropriate scriptures are given. This is a good companion to Shepherding a Child's Heart by Tedd Tripp.

Wonderful Worship in Small Churches
Published in Paperback by Pilgrim Pr (December, 2000)
Average review score:

Outstanding Resource for Small Church PastorsI just finished the book, "Wonderful Worship in Smaller Churches," by David Ray, an outstanding resource for small church pastors, as is his other book, "The Big Small Church Book." I will be rereading both regularly and referring to them often. I may have to reorder the "Big Small Church Book" as my copy is nearly worn out. If I had only two choices for resources for pastors of small churches, it would be these two.I hope the author considers focusing on Christian Education in another book. There is a section in the "Big Small Church Book" on Christian Education, but concentrating on one of the most important church functions individually makes a huge difference, as is proven by this new book. I tell all my colleagues that Rev. Ray's books are worth every dollar and more.

The World's Dumbest Criminals: Based on True Stories from Law Enforcement Officials Around the World
Published in Paperback by Rutledge Hill Press (November, 2000)
Average review score:

Criminals are so DumbYou'd be shocked to see how stupid people can be. This book was really funny. I read every story and they were all great. This book is kind of like a combo of "COPS" and "America's Funniest Home Videos" (but on paper, not tv). These stories aren't just in the U.S.A. but all around the world (as the title implies). Just to give you a sample of a funny one... this one guy broke into a display case at a shoe store and he only stole right shoes, no left at all. Duh. If you enjoy comedy this is the book for you. -_-

The Writing Workshop: Working Through the Hard Parts (And They're All Hard Parts)
Published in Paperback by National Council of Teachers of English (March, 2001)
Average review score:

The best book on Writing Workshop that I've read.If you can only get one book on teaching writing using the Writer's Workshop model let it be this one. It's detailed, full of practical tips, but most important--you will be INSPIRED! I immediately started my own writer's notebook after I read this book. One caveat...this is not a book that you can pick up on Sunday night because you want to start the program on Monday morning. This book is written to be read and re-read, pondered and poured over. That having been said, this is NOT just a book of theory, it thoroughly and lovingly explains all the nuts-and-bolts of the workshop.

X-Ray Diffraction Procedures: For Polycrystalline and Amorphous Materials, 2nd Edition
Published in Hardcover by Wiley-Interscience (May, 1974)
Average review score:

The Bible of X-ray DiffractionKlug & Alexanders book on X-ray diffraction has since it's release, of the first edition in 1954, been and still is the ultimate book on X-ray diffraction procedures. It covers any subject of interest to X-Ray Diffraction form "Elementary Crystallography" and "Properties and Production of X-rays" through "Precision and Errors" to "Operations of X-ray machinery" and many more. Even today, over 25 years after the release of the lasest edition, "X-ray Diffraction Procedures" is because of it's thoroughness, attention to detail, number and depth of subjects dealt with still a must for anybody working with X-Ray Diffraction. The depth, width and fundamental nature of the subject dealt with, and the book as a whole, more than makes the fact the it isn't up to date with the latest technical innovations. There can be no douth that "X-Ray Diffraction Procedures" is the Bible of X-ray diffraction.
